First Friday and Final Friday can be busy nights for artists and art lovers along the Front Range. May’s Final Friday found me crusin’ from Colorado Springs to Denver to enjoy the festivities.
I started the evening at Studio C in the Cottonwood Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs. My friends Liz Kettle and Cass Mullane were having the soft opening of their new studio. It was wonderful to see the walls covered with their art and get to visit with them and other artists before hopping in the car and heading to the Denver Art Museum (DAM).
Untitled: Darn was happening at the DAM. There I visited with Kate Cox and Miriam Basart of 2 Brits and a Sewing Machine and David Johnson and the Tapestry Study Group, part of Handweaver’s Guild of Boulder. I also added a small piece of crochet to the Denver Satellite Reef, listened to a conservator talk about textiles, and took a peek at parts of the Spun exhibit. It was fun to see items in the new Thread Studio that were donated by many of my fiber friends.
A most inspiring six hours!
