Over time I have accumulated many photos that lend themselves to more intimate portraits. It is my intention to complete at least 12 of these up-close headshots in time for a 2015 calendar.
Right now, I’m finishing up the fifth one of the series, and Sharif the Camel. So far I have Arturo the Alpaca, Oliver the Owl, Amani the Cheetah, and Brooks the Grizzly Bear.
At the request of a friend, I did a time-lapse sequence while I worked on Brooks. I set up my camera on a tripod and then set a timer for 1 hour. When the alarm went off, I would stop and snap a photo. I hope you enjoy watching Brooks come together.
I have really enjoyed this new format of finishing my pieces as fabric paintings ready to hang. But with each change in format, new challenges crop up. The hanging pieces do not roll up and ship in nice, cheap tubes. Shipping one is amazingly expensive.
What animal would you like to see up close and personal?
